Associated Insurance Services was founded by R. Douglas Shaffer, whose professional path into insurance was shaped by decades of aviation and claims experience across Alaska. After beginning his insurance career in the mid-1980s and working with established agencies, he opened Associated Insurance Services in 1991 to provide personalized, independent coverage solutions. His background as an aviation claims adjuster and aircraft accident investigator brings a practical understanding of risk, underwriting, and real-world exposure. Today, he continues to lead the agency with the same steady commitment to clients that defined its beginning.
